Zabbix root user

The root user is a Zabbix user that Prisma employs to execute administrative tasks on the Zabbix server. This user has to be specified while adding a Zabbix server.

Administrative tasks include creating a service user in Zabbix via the user group wizard, managing maintenances, and more.

Prisma can theoretically use any Zabbix user as a root user, but problems can occur if the correct requirements are not met. A few things to keep in mind:

  • For the root user to function as intended, the user type Super admin and user role Super admin role is required.
  • The root user can not be used to log in to Prisma. The user is exclusively to access to the Zabbix server from Prisma and perform administrative tasks on the Zabbix server.
  • This user must be created (or exist) on the Zabbix server. It’s not possible to create this user from within Prisma.

Create a root user

To create a root user, just create a new user in Zabbix as described in Zabbix user or the official Zabbix documentation about creating a user .

It is necessary that this user is of the type Super admin and has the Super admin role user role. For additional details regarding Zabbix user roles and types, refer to the Zabbix documentation .
