This section outlines the steps required to begin working with DataForge as a DataForge manager.

DataForge user types
DataForge has two user types, DataForge Managers and DataForge Users. DataForge Managers are exclusively designed for the administration of DataForge and are created within DataForge itself. DataForge Users are Zabbix users imported into DataForge, utilizing DataForge features excluding administrative functions. While a default DataForge Manager account with super admin permissions exists, it is advisable to create a personal DataForge Manager account for individual usage. If DataForge is acquired as SaaS, a DataForge Manager account will be provided.
Companies
Companies serve as a virtual representation of a business or department. A company does not necessarily have to correspond to a real company, it can also represent a department or another organizational unit.
Zabbix users
Zabbix users are part of a Zabbix server but play a crucial role in various aspects of working with DataForge. These users fall into three distinct categories, Zabbix user, Zabbix service user, and Zabbix root user.
Zabbix server integration
Adding a Zabbix server effectively integrates that server into DataForge and enabling you to access its data.
Import Zabbix users
Imported Zabbix users are known as DataForge Users. They are focusing on all functionalities within DataForge, except administrative tasks.
Zabbix user groups
DataForge utilizes Zabbix user groups for different purposes and Zabbix user groups with specific configurations have their own names within DataForge.
DataForge user groups
A DataForge user group is needed for working with DataForge’s reporting feature. Members of a DataForge user group operate through a service user. The Zabbix permissions of the service user dictate the level of data accessible within DataForge’s reporting for group members.
User roles
The permission system in DataForge is based on user roles. A distinction must be made between DataForge user roles and Zabbix user roles. DataForge offers default and customizable user roles based on ACL rules. These roles are defined for each DataForge section, including: Zabbix client, Administration, Reporting, and Self provisioning. With these roles, permissions can be precisely set to control a user’s access to different sections and functionalities within those sections. User roles in DataForge can be mapped to Zabbix user roles upon import or can be configured manually for each user. Media types
Media types are created to specify the delivery method for reports. These media types are unique to each company and are built upon three primary base types: Email, SCP, and Kafka.
Auditlog
The audit log serves as a comprehensive record of all events within the DataForge application.
Instance
The instance section contains the microservice’s and license’s page. The page for microservices offers you detailed information about all running microservices of your instance, while the license page allows you to inspect your active license.
